Research in the Applied Optics Group is organized around the following areas:
• Determination of atmospheric contaminants using differential optical spectroscopy (MAX-DOAS, TOTAL-DOAS).
• Fourier Optics (character recognition, optical correlators, spatial filtering).
• Visualization of phase objects using incoherent illumination.
• Stepped Interferometry (phase-shifting techniques using topologic phase, developement of new interferometers).
• Optical Sensors, particularly Fiber Optics Sensors (eg.,angles, vibration sensors, electric current sensors using Faraday effect).
• Fiber Optics characterization.
• Difractive Optics (generation of non-diffracting bright- and dark beams).
• Polarimetry.
• Others: developement of algorithms to calculate the “fast Hankel transform”, Speckle, etc.
