estimados,
arpovechando que está por acá nuestro compañero Gonzalo Sanguinetti, le
he pedido que nos cuente qué está haciendo.
La juntada es el martes 17 a las 15 horas y este es el contenido:
Geometry, Lie Groups and Image Analysis
I will give an overview of my current work in the group of Remco Duits
at the Mathematics and Computer Sciences department at the Eindhoven
Technical University (TU/e). Here, as part of the european project “Lie
Analysis” (held by Remco), we are developing a general framework for
contextual processing of biomedical imaging, in which the object of
interest are elongated structures. The main tools are
crossing-preserving PDE’s acting on distributions on the space of
coupled positions and orientations (R^d \rtimes S^{d-1}, for d=2, 3)
which we embed with the geometrical structure of the roto-translation
group SE(d). These distributions in the extended domain can be obtained
from images on R^d through a suitable invertible stable transformation
(a so-called “invertible orientation score”), or after a modeling
procedure in the case of diffusion weighted MRI data. I will illustrate
the potential of these techniques in 2D and 3D applications. In the 2D
case we apply them for vessel tracking of optical images of the retinal,
for crossing-preserving enhancement of for geometrical contour
completion. In 3D we use them in neuroimaging applications and for 3D
vessel tracking/segmentation.
