Better visit your doctor immediately if the BP measurement BP Zone routinely reads higher than 140mmHg or lower than 90 mmHg and if any of the high BP symptoms like unexplained headache, sudden gradual changes of vision, light-headedness and vomiting with chest pains and shortness of breath occur. In patients suffering from mild hypertension, around 30% to 40% are said to be diagnosed with White Coat Hypertension. This type of hypertension is characterized by an increase in the systolic value of the BP usually ranging from 140 mmHg to 180 mmHg. It is often associated with ambulatory systolic value of BP which is lower than 140 mmHg and diastolic value lower than 90 mmHg.

There are no symptoms associated with White Coat Hypertension. Unlike any other type of hypertension where patients generally feel bad when it attacks, with WCH, patients do not feel any changes. You can only find out if you have one if you have your blood pressure measure outside the premise of the clinic or hospital. You may do this in two different ways. You may measure your blood pressure when you are at home or you may ask your doctor to lend you the clinic's blood pressure monitor for 24-hour monitoring or Ambulatory Blood Pressure Measurement.
