BECAS OSANA ABRAHAMIAN – DONACIÓN MARKARIAN. DOCTORADO 2025
Objetivo
Esta convocatoria tiene como objetivo fomentar la formación de especialistas en el campo de la Matemática y ramas científicas o técnicas relacionadas, a través del otorgamiento de becas para la realización de estudios de Doctorado en Matemática en Uruguay.
¿Quiénes pueden presentarse?
La beca está dirigida a interesados (de cualquier nacionalidad) en realizar estudios de Doctorado en Matemática en la Universidad de la República del Uruguay que no sean beneficiarios de otra beca de maestría o doctorado al momento de usufructuar estas Becas.
Además, el becario no podrá tener una carga mayor a 20 (veinte) horas semanales dedicadas a la actividad laboral, debiendo ser al menos el 75% en el sistema público de educación.
Monto de la Beca, Dedicación y Duración
El beneficiario recibirá un fondo mensual no reembolsable de 9 BPC (Base de Prestaciones y Contribuciones). Dicha base es actualizada anualmente por el Poder Ejecutivo (el valor de 1 BPC en 2025 corresponde a $6576).
El beneficiario de la beca tendrá la obligación de dictar 4 horas de clases semanales (que no estarán incluidas en las 20 antes indicadas) en el Instituto de Matemática y Estadística “Prof. Ing. Rafael Laguardia” (IMERL). Aquellos que sean docentes de dicho instituto no sobrepasarán las 8 horas de clase semanales. Si el Becario tuviera dificultades idiomáticas esta obligación se aplicará luego de 6 meses del comienzo de la Beca.
El plazo de la beca está previsto para 12 meses. Dicho plazo se podrá renovar por 12 meses adicionales siempre y cuando se cuente con el aval del Comité de Selección de acuerdo al avance realizado en los estudios de Doctorado. El usufructo de la beca deberá comenzar durante el período de un año luego de otorgada la beca.
Cantidad de becas y Plazo de Postulación
Se otorgarán hasta dos becas en esta edición. El plazo de postulación es desde el 1ro de julio de 2025 hasta el 17 de agosto de 2025 a las 11:59 pm.
Condiciones de Postulación
Los interesados deberán presentar la siguiente documentación:

Plan tentativo de trabajo de los estudios de Doctorado.

Carta de solicitud, de no más de dos carillas, donde se exprese con claridad el interés por el Doctorado y donde se explique:
a) por qué sería relevante recibir el monto de esta beca para comenzar o para realizar los estudios;
b) el interés del becario en aplicar su formación a la mejoría de la enseñanza de la disciplina en niveles educativos no sólo universitarios.

Goal
The purpose of this call for applications is to promote the training of specialists in the field of Mathematics and related scientific or technical branches, through the awarding of scholarships to pursue doctoral studies in Mathematics in Uruguay.
Who can apply?
The scholarship is aimed at people of any nationality interested in pursuing doctoral studies in Mathematics at Universidad de la República, in Uruguay. The recipient of this scholarship cannot have another master’s or doctorate scholarship simultaneously, and may have additional workload of up to 20 hours per week, at least 75% of which must be devoted to the public education system.
Scholarship Amount, Dedication and Duration
The beneficiary will receive a monthly non-refundable pay of 9 BPC (Base of Benefits and Contributions). This base is updated annually by the Uruguayan government (the current value of 1 BPC in 2025 corresponds to $6576).
The beneficiary of the scholarship will be required to teach 4 hours of classes per week (not included in the 20 hours mentioned above) at the Instituto de Matemática y Estadística “Prof. Ing. Rafael Laguardia” (IMERL). Those who teach at IMERL as part of their regular job will not exceed 8 hours of classes per week. If the beneficiary has difficulties with the Spanish language, this obligation will be applied after 6 months from the beginning of the scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded for 12 months. This term may be renewed for an additional 12 months with the approval of the Selection Committee based on the progress made in the doctoral studies.
The use of the scholarship must begin during the period of one year after the scholarship is awarded.
Number of Scholarships and Application Deadline
Up to two scholarships will be awarded in this edition. The application period is from July 1, 2025, until August 17, 2025, at 11:59 pm.

Letter of application, at most two pages long, clearly expressing interest in the PhD and explaining:
a) why it would be relevant to receive the amount of this scholarship to begin or to carry out their studies;
b) their interest in applying their training to improve the teaching of the discipline at educational levels that may include but not reduce to university.
