El próximo martes 17 de abril a las 18:00 h el PhD Remo Pedreschi, profesor de la Universidad de Edimburgo, Escocia, ofrecerá la charla abierta “The Work of Eladio Dieste and Research in Structural Masonry”.
La presentación será en el salón 501 (piso 5 del cuerpo central) y es parte de las actividades llevadas adelante en el marco de la conmemoración de los 100 años del nacimiento de Eladio Dieste, cumplidos el pasado 1 de diciembre de 2017.
Resumen del Profesor Pedreschi de la charla
Durante la última parte del siglo 20 hubo un campo de investigación internacional activo en mampostería estructural. En 1991 en la 9th International Brick Masonry Conference, en Berlín, se presentaron 225 papers que cubren diferentes aspectos del uso de la mampostería estructural de muchos países diferentes, allí es donde encontré el trabajo de Eladio Dieste.
A través de mis estudios sobre su trabajo, he desarrollado una perspectiva diferente sobre la investigación intensiva en mampostería estructural. La conferencia revisará el trabajo sobre mampostería estructural en la Universidad de Edimburgo a través del lente del trabajo de Dieste ,aportando una visión de la contribución que ha hecho a la arquitectura y la ingeniería.

Currículum resumido
Remo Pedreschi is a Chartered Civil Engineer and current holds the Chair of Architectural Technology at the University Edinburgh. He was also Director of Research at Edinburgh College of Art. He obtained his PhD for a thesis entitled 'A study of the behaviour of post-tensioned brickwork beams'
He joined the School of Architecture from the construction industry where he worked on the development of pre-stressed concrete, cold-formed steel structures, composite steel/concrete flooring and facade systems.
He has studied and researched many structural materials, including brickwork, stone, steel, composite systems and concrete. he is particularly interested in the relationship between material properties and production process and the influence on design.
He has an ongoing interesting in the relationship between structural engineering and architecture and was creator and editor for a series of books called 'The Engineer's Contribution to Contemporary Architecture' for which he wrote the monograph on Eladio Dieste.
